Yoga is fundamentally a practice of awareness in which we can ask ourselves to be more sensitive to our direct experience. To this end, I find the integration of seated meditation, Buddhist principles, and yoga asana to be a profoundly interesting topic. The somatic sensitivity gained through asana can be an asset within the stillness of the meditative seat. Moreover, the meditative mind can come to deeply inform how we examine and respond to the sensations that arise in various physical postures. This process of practice becomes a laboratory for testing our hypotheses and learning about ourselves.
This day-long retreat is meant to support students interested in the integration of embodiment, meditation, and reflection in their ongoing yoga practice. You do not need to be a long-time meditator to participate, nor do you have to be an "advanced" asana practitioner.
