Yoga is fundamentally a practice of awareness in which we can ask ourselves to be more sensitive to our direct experience. To this end, I find the integration of seated meditation, Buddhist principles and yoga asana to be a profoundly interesting topic. The somatic sensitivity gained through asana can be an asset within the stillness of the meditative seat. Moreover, when we apply the meditative mind can come to deeply inform how we examine and respond to the sensations that arise in various physical postures. The two practices - which can seem quite separate - over time become mutually beneficial.
In this two-day program, we will learn - or refine - basic meditation techniques and important principles in asana practice in order to explore their interplay.
Friday evening will be presented online as an overview and gentle practice. Saturday will be presented in person at SYNB and will alternate between periods of seated meditation, asana practice, and discussion.
All are welcome!
