Restorative Mini-Training: Beyond the Props

December 5 - 9-12pm Practice

December 12 - 9-3pm Training

$225 for the Full Training

$45-$60 suggested sliding scale for only the Dec 5 Practice

Restorative Yoga can be a profoundly helpful practice. Usually it is introduced to folks as a practice of prop-supported positions to enhance relaxation-response. Starting there is very useful, and sometimes the nuance of what can happen in the context of the pose is left out.

This mini-training is geared toward students and teachers who have some experience with restorative yoga. We will spend the weekend in practice and discussion two main questions:

  • What does it mean to feel supported in Yoga practice?

  • What do we mean when we say restorative?

We will explore many of the typical restorative yoga postures (supta baddha konasana, viparita karani, etc) in different configurations and unpack the possibilities of modifying them based on our circumstance/intention. The poses will be a framework to discuss:

  • What is Relaxation? How do we perceive it?

  • What is the balance between a more active practice and what we have come to know as restorative?

  • How do we describe sensation?

  • How do we respond to sensation (in the context of practice)?

I suppose this might qualify as an "advanced" restorative training, but only if you like to think of yourself as "advanced" :-).

The intention is for this training to be held in person and therefore vaccination is required to attend. Depending on state/CDC guidelines we will move the training online if necessary.
